The bar chart compares the proportion of films published with its sales in ticket in the two years 1996 and 2000.
Overall, the number of films produced increased for all genres except for Romance films. A similar trend was also being seen in the figure for ticket sales throughout the period.
In 1996, Drama and Comedy were the two genres with the highest proportion of production at above 25 percent and 20 percent. The number for Drama was almost double the date for Fantasy and even 5 times Romance films. After four years, the numbers of Drama, Comedy, and Fantasy films rose to 35, 25, and 15 percent respectively while the number of Romance genres remained unchanged.
Looking at the statistics for ticket sales, it is the Comedy in which to be sold the most at 20 percent in 1996 and about 23 in 2000. Drama was the second best-seller genre of the four types and only rose negligibly. Fantasy and Romance films witnessed a contrasting trend in which the figure for Fantasy in 2000 doubled the 1996 one, and Romance film sale declined sharply in 2000.
