Band 7+: Task 1: The maps below show part of a village in 1910, and the same part of that village in 2010. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The given pictures illustrate the way in which Shalton village changed between 1910 and 2010.

Looking at the illustration, it is immediately clear that more houses were built, while some old shops like the grocer and butcher disappeared. Additionally, new facilities such as a supermarket and parking area were add.

The post office remained unchanged over time, and so did the school, which was located on the left side of the map. However, the butcher and grocer shops were removed completely from the area. The green area with trees in the center, which used to be next to the large house, was also cleared and replaced by many new houses.

By 2010, a supermarket and a parking were add west of the school. A cafe was also constructed along High Street. A bank was built next to the supermarket, making the area more modern. More house were built vertical line London Road and in the center area.
