The table illustrates the transformation in the rate of attendance in various sports in the European from 1999 to 2009. Overall, football was always the most popular sport in a decade. Moreover, while the rate of people participating in tennis, golf, yoga followed an upward trend, that of swimming, volleyball, basketball remained stable.
With regard to the percentage of football players, the most common sport from 1999 to 2009, this figure began at 57%. In the next 5 years , it went down gradually to sink a new low of 48%. In contrast, individuals attending tennis, golf and yoga tended to spend less time on these sports between 1999 and 2009. Although 10% people practiced yoga from 1999 to 2004, this figure witnessed a slight increase in 2009.
Furthermore, the proportion of swimmers in an European country in 1999 was around one third, it then grew insignificantly to 34% in 2009. Surprisingly, the rate of volleyball members started at 17% in 1999, it rose to 20% before dropping back to its previous level. The percentage of people joining yoga from 1999 to 2009 was lower than 15%, with 10%, 10% and 13% respectively.
