The bar charts compare the distribution of employment among agriculture, services, and industries in three countries in 1980 and 2020.
Overall, the services sector offered the most job opportunities in both Country A and C. By contrast, working in agriculture was the most popular in Country B, whereas it had the lowest proportion of employment in Country C. Furthermore, employment in industry was the most prevalent in 1980 in Country A and B.
The proportion of employment in agriculture remained stable at 20% in both years, which was lowest among the other categories. Meanwhile, industry accounted for 30%, before declining slightly to around 25% in 2020. In comparison, services remained dominant in terms of employment in both years, at approximately 45% in 1980 and 55% in 2020.
Regarding Country B, it had the highest proportion of employment in agriculture, which stood at about 70% in 1980 and dropped further to around 58% in 2020. The figure for industry rose slightly to roughly 38% in 2020, which was 18 percentage points higher than in 1980. Similarly, employment in services increased from around 25% in 1980 to 42% in 2020.
As for Country C, job opportunities in agriculture were by far the lowest among other sectors, at around 5% in both years. Furthermore, the proportion of employment in industry declined from roughly 35% in 1980 to about 25% in 2020. Workers in the services sector, however, was the most common, rising from approximately 65% in 1980 to 80% in 2020.
