Two bar charts illustrate the average minutes per day that five age groups in New Zealand use for two kinds of hobbies, reading and listening to music.
Overall, it can be seen that the older New Zealanders are, the more time they spend reading. The time spent listening to music among youngsters and older people is highest, while the opposite is true for the middle age groups.
According to the first chart, while young people read for a short time per day, only 20 minutes, the 25- to 32-year-old age group read for more than half an hour. Moreover, the amount of reading time increases slightly to 45 minutes among middle-aged people and exactly 50 minutes among older people. Lastly, the oldest group spent an hour and 10 minutes reading.
Moving to the second chart, although teenagers spend little time reading, they spend 80 minutes listening to music—the highest number among all age groups. The oldest group spends 75 minutes listening. Additionally, the 25- to 32-year-old group spends an hour listening to music. Lastly, the middle-aged and 43- to 55-year-old groups spend45 minutes and 50 minutes listening to music, respectively.
