The bar chart compares expenditure on six different consumer goods in four countries in 2012. Overall, it is immediately apparent that Britain was the highest spender across all six categories. In contrast, Belgium generally had the lowest spending levels, with figures showing little variation between the different types of goods.
Looking at the details for the highest spending nations, Britain consistently spent the most across all categories. The British spent the highest amount on cameras, at approximately £170,000, followed closely by toys and books at around £168,000 and £162,000 respectively. Similarly, Austria’s expenditure was highest in these same three categories, paying roughly £166,000 for cameras and an equal amount of £158,000 for both toys and books. In contrast, Austrian spending on the other items was significantly lower, particularly for outdoor game accessories and cosmetics, where it fell to the lowest figures among all countries.
Turning to the remaining countries, expenditure in Spain was relatively stable across all six categories, with figures falling within a narrow range of £150,000 to £158,000. On the other hand, Belgium had the lowest spending levels overall. The figures showed the least variation, hovering consistently between £144,000 and £150,000 for all items.
