The bar illustrates the percentage of population divided into three age groups: (0-14 years, 15-59 years, and 60+ years) in Yemen and Italy in 2020, and assumptions for 2050.
Overall, it is clear that in Italy people aged from 15 to 59 years accounted for the largest proportion, while in Yemen 0-14 year olds people dominated in 2000. However, it is predicted that in 2050, the percentage of 15-59 year olds Italians will decrease, whereas in Yemen this age group is going to be the highest percentage.
By 2000, the percentage of 0-14 year olds in Yemen accounted for half of the total (50,1%) population in Yemen. Meanwhile, 46.3% was recorded for 15-59 years people. In addition, the percentage of Yemenis over 60 years old people made up 3.6%. In contrast, it is assumed that over the next 50 years, 0-14 year old Yemenis will decline to 37%, while people from 15 to 59 years will rise from 46.3% to 57.3% and people 60+ years old will grow to 5.7%.
In 2000, the percentage of the 0-14 year old group in Italy represented 14.3%, while Italians aged 15-59 made up 61.6%. By contrast, people aged 60 and over remained 24.1%. However, assumptions show that the percentage of people 60+ years old will sharply rise to 42.3%, whereas Italians from 15 to 59 years old will experience a dramatic decline from 61.6% to 46.2%. Finally, the percentage of Italian 0-14 years old will slowly fall to 11.5%.
