Overall,it is clear that in most countries the number of marriage slightly decrease in 1994 compared to 1981. Similarly, divorce rate also showed a general decline or remain stable across most country over the same period.
In 1981,the USA had the highest marriage rate, close to 10 per thousand people but it fell slightly in 1994. A similar decline was seen in the UK, Germany, France, and Finland. Japan and Italy had lower marriage rate in both years, with not much change. However, Denmark was the only country were the marriage rate increased, rising from about 6 to 8 per thousand people.
For Divorce figure, the USA again had the highest rate in both years, although it decreased from about 5.2 to 4.5. The UK also showed a small fall. In contrast, Finland and Germany had slight increases. Italy had the lowest divorce rate, which stayed below 1 in both years. Denmark had a high rate, around 3, but also decreases a little by 1994.
