Overall, in all areas, females are uneducated more than males.
Moving to a detailed analysis, in South Asia, female illiteracy rate ranked firts, while accounting for more than 50% of the females.
In Sub-Saharan Africa and Arab states, uneducation rates of women are 47% and 52% respectiavely. The illiteracy propotion of women in East Asia and Oceania is approximately twice as high as the rate of female illiteracy in Latin American and Caribbean areas (12%). The lowest indicator is in the developed coutries (2%).
In terms of males’ illiteracy rates, more uneducated men live on South Asia again (almost 35%) and it followed by Sub-Saharan Africa, where 31% of the men are illiterate. In Arab states illiteracy rate is 3% lower than that of rate of Sub-Saharan Africa. Male illiteracy rates in Latin America and Caribbs and East Asia/Ocenania are under 11%. The lowest propotion of the males are uneducated in Developed Countries, which is 1%.
