After 1 year, there was a decrease of 4% in the percentage of couples divorcing in Finland, hitting the lowest point in both countries during 5 years. The rates of divorce in Sweden, however, peaked at 49%, before falling steadily in the next few years.
From 2012 to 2014, an eventual decrease of 2% each year was seen in the proportion of couples who divorced in Sweden. In 2015, couples who divorced in Sweden substantially decreased to 37%, at the same rate with Finland in 2011. The rates in Finland, rose dramatically to slightly just over 40% in 2014. Despite the stability at 41% in 2015, Finland became the country that had a higher proportion in divorce.
