Overall, women were more active readers than men throughout the time period under study. The number of books that males read experienced a steady increase between 2010 and 2014, while the amount of books consumed by female readers climbed until 2012, and then experienced a sharp de-escalation.
3000 books were read by men in the local library in 2010. Between 2010 and 2012, it increased slightly to 3500 books. However, in 2013 the number of books rose sharply at 4500 books, demonstrating an the largest increase of 1000 books for the male gender. It finally peaked at 5000 books for the year of 2014.
On the other hand, female readers were consuming 5000 books in 2010, which was the lowest point during the studied period. With an annual significant jump of 2000 books, the amount of books the women read reached its peak in 2012, where 9000 books were read at the local library. However, this high point was followed by a reduction in 2013 and 2014, resulting in 6500 books for the year of 2014.
