The chart compares the daily usage of internet of adults by five various age groups in the UK between 2003 and 2006. Overall, as expected, younger generations used internet more compared to their older counterparts. Furthermore, the percentage of internet usage generally increased among all age brackets in the last two years.
The highest usage of internet was seen on 16-24 age brackets, with equal 80% in 2003 and 2004. This figure increased noticeably in upcoming two years with about 90% and 85% in the years of 2005 and 2006 respectively. 25-44 age group almost mirrored this trend, but on lower rates, below 80% mark.
In 2003, about 55% of 45-54 aged people was online every day, while in 2004, this figure rose to a below of 70%. Regarding other two years, the gap narrowed by 5%, with 60% in 2005 and 70% in 2006. In 55-64 age bracket, though, the figure continuously increased from 32% in 2003 to about 55% in 2006. With 65 and older age group, the trend was more or less stable, fluctuating around 17%, with the exception of 2003. In this year, merely 3% of oldest generation used internet on a daily basis.
