Overall, it is quite evident that there is generally an upward trend for all the companies but, the rate of growth was the highest in IBM. Additionally, in the year 1990, the rate of men participation was almost the same for each company. Moving towards the detailed analysis, in the year 1980, Apple had the highest percentage of men who participated in senior development position at about 15% as compared to the other 2 companies namely, Microsoft and IBM which had an approximate 8% and 1% participation respectively. Furthermore, this figure continued to rise for all companies and in the year 1990, roughly 12% of males in each company took part in senior development positions. Moreover, by the year 1995, IBM superceded the other 2 companies and had more than 25% men participation whereas Apple and Microsoft had nearly 20% and 15% participation respectively.
Scrutinizing the data for the following years, in 2000, Apple noticed a small dip and fell to slightly less than 20% thereby, narrowing the gap between them and the Microsoft for whom, the figure was just above 15%. In addition, in 2010, IBM, Microsoft, and Apple all experienced a surge and touched their peak at around 62%, 45%, and 25% respectively.
