The bar chart compares the proportion of Australian male and female students taking part in four different sport exercises after school in 2010. Overall, football was the most popular type of sport among boys, while netball is true for girls. Other sport activities were attended in almost the same amounts by both genders.
Boys attended most in football among all the other activities with 20%,which is approximately five times more than girls’ attendance. In terms of netball, it is obvious that most participants included female students at around 17.5%, compared to around 2.5% for boys.
Swimming was the most attended type of sport among all these four, which accounted for almost 14% and 16% for male and female students respectively. Quite the opposite can be seen with basketball participants, which amounted to about 7% and 8%.
Students who did not attend any of these sport activities consisted of almost 10% of all pupils, which is 4% for boys and 5% for girls.
