Overall, what stands out from the chart is that the United States was the most generous country throughout the period. Conversely, Sweden and Netherlands were the least generous contributors and found themselves at the bottom of the list. Notably, in 2010, the USA, the UK and Germany’s contribution level were dominant compared to the previous years.
Firstly, the USA’s aid stood at 23 billion dollars at the beginning of the period. However, in the following year , this figure decreased to 17 billion dollars while it rebounded, reaching 25 billion dollars which was the highest on the list. Turning to, Germany and Japan’s aid contributions were approximately equal, with the figure of 12 billion dollars in 2008 and fell to 10 billion dollars in the following year for both. However, in the final year, there was a slight disparity, with the amount of 14 and 12 billion dollars , respectively.
Moreover, the United Kingdom was not too far behind these countries, witnessed general increase over the given period, from 8 billion to 13 billion dollars. As for the smallest donators, their contribution was equal in the initial two years, with figures of 6 billion in 2008 and 9 billion dollars in 2009. Nonetheless, in 2010, there was small disparity, the former country’s aid accounted for 8 billions while the latter was 5 billion dollars.
