The bar chart illustrates the proportion of adults who were overweight or obese over a fifty-year period, while the pie chart shows the weight distribution of the adult population in 2005. Overall, the percentage of adults who were overweight or obese increased steadily between 1965 and 2015. Meanwhile, obesity was the most common weight-related issue among adults in 2005.
Between 1965 and 1985, the proportion of overweight or obese adults remained relatively stable, at around 45%. After 1985, however, the figure began to rise consistently. It is evident that the percentage increased by approximately 10% from 1985 onward and continued to grow throughout the period. By 2015, around 75% of adults were classified as overweight or obese.
On the other hand, the pie chart reveals that in 2005, obese individuals constituted the largest group, accounting for 31% of the adult population. This was followed by those who were overweight and those with a healthy or underweight status, at 29% and 25%, respectively. In contrast, only 6% of adults were classified as severely obese.
