The above bar chart displays the proportion of students learning to play four distinct types of musical instruments in three separate years, which are 2005, 2010 and 2015.
Overall, with the exception of violin, most of the instruments in the research were being learned by considerably more children in 2015 than in the previous years. Moreover, throughout the three years of timestamps, the guitar and piano remained to be the most popular instruments studied.
In 2005, around 10 percent of schoolchildren were learning to play the guitar and piano, whereas just 5 percent of students learned drums. In 2010, guitar and piano nearly doubled popularity, 18 and 20 percent of kids playing them, respectively. In the same year, the percentage of schoolchildren learning to play the drum and violin remained stable at 5 and 7 percent compared to the statistic in 2005.
In the year 2015, the number of students studying the guitar grew by about 8%. The same happened to the rate of piano learnersFurthermore, although the number of children studying the drums climbed slightly to 8%, there was a moderate decrease in the figure of violin, at only 7%.
