The chart illustrates the proportion of the workforce in each of the following major industries (manufacuring, services, agriculture and fishing, construction, energy and water) in the UK between 1841 and 2011.
Overall, it can be seen that the highest percentage of labor force in 1841 was manufacuring, while an industry such as energy and water had the lowest rate during the period. By the final year of the period given a corporation like services occupy the highest rate, similarly to the leading year, energy and water had the least proportion. Additionaly, in 2011 both agriculture and fishing and energy and water were almost equal (1%). Likewise, in 1841 construction and energy and water stayed the same.
The figure for personnel in 1841 in industries including manufacuring, services and agriculture and fishing were roughly the same (36%, 33%, 22%), whereas the construction sector and energy and water accounted for a much smaller share. In mush the same manner, in 2001 manufacuring and construction were at comparable levels (9%, 8%).
There were substantial changes in both manufacuring and services over the period. The level for manufacuring fell sharply from 36% in 1841 to just 9% in 2011, while services showed the opposite pattern, rising dramatically from 33% to 81%. By contrast, construction experienced only a slight increase, climbing from 5% to 8%, and the water proportion in energy and water declined marginally, from 3% to 1%.
