The bar chart illustrates the total length of 3 different types of telephone calls, which are local-fixed line, national and international – fixed line and mobiles in minutes (in billions) in the UK between 1995 and 2002.
Overall, local – fixed line remained as the longest telephone call throughout the 7 years, while mobile calls remained unchanges as the shortest, even though it increased the most. Despite the fluctuations, local-fixed line came back to its previous length.
In the 1995, local-fixed line consisted just over 70 billion minutes calls. The length of the call steadily grew for 4 years and reached its peak by 90 billion minutes in the 1999. Then, the call declined for 5 billion minutes each year and by 2002 it totally contained just over 70 billion minutes call as in the first year of the period.
Meanwhile, the national and international – fixed line was just above one-third of the whole telephone call length. It marginally continued to rise until the 2000 and sharply went upward to approximately 55 billion minutes and peaked to 60 billion minutes.
Mobile calls were near to 5 billion minutes and were the least in the length of the calls. The patterns negligibly went up until the 1999 and were 13 billion minutes. By 2000 it steeply showed upward trend to just above a quarter of the length and continued till the end of the period, by reaching the just under the half of the whole lentgh.
