On average, a Japanese student spends 13 hours studying, while in the United Kingdom and Germany learners studied an average of 8 and 9 hours per day respectively. That is around 4 to 5 hours less study time than their japanese counterparts. This indicates a much more academically focused culture in Japan than in the UK and Germany.
In terms of downtime and slumber, german and british students spent on average 7 hours relaxing and around 8 to 8.5 hours sleeping, while the japanese only slept 7 hours a day and relaxed for 4 hours.
