The bar graph illustrates the count of Olympic medals won by China, USA and Russia between 2004 and 2016. Overall, USA won the highest medal counts throughout the period while, Russia secured the fewest. China showed a noticeable improvement but later experienced a decline.
In 2004, the USA led with almost 100 medals, almost double the total of China and Russia, which secured 60 and almost 90 medals. A marked increase in medal count was observed in 2008, where the USA reached 110 medals, while China rose sharply to about 100, almost equal to USA, while Russia’s numbers fell slightly below 60.
After 2008, China’s total achievement dropped steadily, falling to below 70 medals by 2016. Russia also showed a downward trend, decreasing gradually from around 60 to just over 50 in 2016. In contrast, the USA remained the strongest competitor, peaking at around 120 medals in 2012 before declining slightly to 110 in 2016.
