The bar chart compares the percentage of money spent by six different age groups on food and drink, restaurant and hotel, and entertainment in the UK in the year 2004.
It is clear that residents between 61 and 75 spent most of the money on entertainment. By contrast, the proportion of money spent by the same age group on restaurants and hotels was the lowest in the UK in 2004.
Looking at the bar chart in more detail, people aged under 30 spent their higher proportion of money on restaurants and hotels, at 14%, while the food and drink sector accounted for 6% of money. Spending on food and drink (13%) was higher than entertainment (7%) in the UK by the 31-45 age group.
For the remaining age groups, the 61-75 and 76 above age groups comprised 17% and 23% of their total budget for food and drink. In contrast, these age groups allocated a small portion of money to restaurants and hotels, at 12% and 7% of total spending. Notably, the proportion of money spent by people aged 61-75 recorded for entertainment (23%) was several times higher than that of restaurants and hotels (3%).
