The given graph illustrates the participation in the Olympics from 1924 to 2012 and the chart illustrates the bifurcation of male and female participation for the given period. Overall, the participation from both the genders has increased over time.
In the first chart, male participation was 3000, and female participation was below 1000 in 1924. In 1952, the male taking part in the Olympics had a linear increase and reached a number of 4500 whereas the female participation was still below 1000. Following this in 1984, the contribution from males has increased above 5000 and females have contributed to a number below 2000. In the end of the given period, the male attendants were a little below 5000 but the numbers of females have drastically increased to approximately 5000.
The second graph depicts the overall participants, which was 3000 in 1924, whereas, it had a little increase to 5000 in 1952. Till 1984, we can see a linear increase as the previous trend, which reached to a number of above 6000. But from 1984, till the end of the given time period, that is , 2012, we can see a significant increase in the participation which is 11000.
To summarize, there were not many people actively taking part in the beginning of the era in Olympics, which stands true for males and females both. However, by the end of the given era, we can see a radical change in the numbers of participation. As per the given data, the female participation has witnessed a significant increase over 88 years.
