In 1924, around 3000 of male participants entered the olympics. Between 1952 and 1984 experienced a steady increased in the male participants . There was a slight increase to almost 6000 in 2012. However, the number of female contester in olympic stood at about 10 but then rose slightly to 500 in 1952 and approximately 1800 in 1984. In 2012, the number of women participants increase sharply to nearly 5000 .In comparison ,from 1924 the number of unisex contester entered in the olympic stood at 3000 in 1924 and climbed continuously to over 10000 at the end of the year.
