The bar chart shows the percentages of people in five age groups that participated in an activity during 1990 and 2010.
Overall, we can see a clear change in the trends. Participation of young people went down, but for the older people it increased. In 1990, the group of 36-50 was the most active, but in 2010 the most active was the 51-65 cohort.
In 1990, the 36-50 group had the highest engagement with 42%. The groups for 51-65 and more than 65 were similar, with roughly 32% and 35%. The youngest people (18-25) was the lowest category because only 17% participated.
By 2010, there was a shift in the graph. The 51-65 group increased to almost 40%, and the over 65 group also grew a little to 35%. Conversely, the numbers for the young groups dropped a lot. The 18-25 group fell to less than 10%, and the other groups like 26-35 and 36-50 also decreased to 24% and 35%.
