The assigned bar graph illustrates the proportion of average weekly income consumed by families in a particular country across eight different catagories between the years 1998 and 2018.The data is presented in percentages.
Overall, it can be seen that families spent their most of the weekly budget on food in 1998. while leisure emerged as predominated catagory by 2018. However, fuel and power remianed at low rate across the two years. Although, all items experienced changes but the household goods maintained consistency within the same years.
According to the graph, the food allocated 35% of the weekly income spent by families in 1998, but this proportion decreased almost to 17% in 2018. Similarly, clothing and footware as well as personal goods followed the same change,reduced by half by 2018, with clothing and footware accounting for exactly 5% and personal goods for around 4% in 2018. Furthermore, fuel and power were less spent catagory with low expenditure, falling slightly to 4% in 2018 compared to 1998.
In contrast, spending on leisure activities increased sharply by 13% in 2018 and 1998, reaching nearly 23% in 2018. Additionally, housing and transport also increased approximately to 18% and 14% in both years, respectively. Moreover, spending on household goods remained relatively stable in 1998 and 2018.
