Overall, the largest amount of chidren prefer to walk for the short distances and use the bus for long commutes, while relatively same amount of teens prefer traveling by bicycle or car.
Around 90% of students walked to school for the short distance of 0-1 miles, more than half walked 1-2 miles, and only quarter traveled by foot 2-5 miles. In contrast if the distance is too big teenagers prefer to use bus. Over than 60% of children use bus for the distance of 5 and more miles. Around 40% took the bus for the distance of 2-5 miles and only 10% of students take rides for 1-2 miles. The percentage of the distance for 0-1 miles is below 0%.
By contrast children who prefer using bicycle to get to school is smaller than other options. The all distances do not go over than 10%. Over than 30% of children’s use cars for the distance of 2-5 miles. The distance of 5 miles is only 5% below than the last option. The distance of 1-2 and 0-1 miles are 20% and below 10%.
