The chart compares the data about the most played sports in New Zealand in 2002.
In overall, it is obvious that netball was the most common sport among girls, while boys mostly preferred playing soccer.
As it can be noticed, most of females’ favorite sport was netball with 25%, while only 1% of males were interested in this sport. On the contrary, soccer was mostly played by males with almost 25%, and only 5% by females. It is undeniable that boys were leading in fields such as cricket, martial arts and other sports.
Swimming was as popular as netball among girls with 23% and only 13% was chosen by boys. There was similar percentage of females and males basketball players, with 6% and 8%, respectively. Same happened with tennis, 7% of girls and 9% of boys played this sport.
