The bar graph provides data on the percentage breakdown of overweight people in four various countries in the years 1980,1990, and 2000.
Overall, what stands out is that the percentage of overweight population in the USA was by far the highest, while the same cannot be said for Japan. Of particular note is that the overweight rates experienced a significant increase regardless of countries.
Categorically speaking, the USA topped the graph at 18% of overweight population in 1980, followed by Britain whose rates were twice as less as the USA´s(9%). Following years, the USA and Britain experienced substantial rises from 18% to 33% and from 9% to 19%, respectively.
Turning to other countries, the increase in obesity levels in Sweden and Japan was more gradual. Sweden started a low percentage of 6% in 1980, it, by contrast, accelerated notably, reaching 10% in 1999 and climbing further to 15% by 2000. When it comes to Japan, it had the lowest percentage of overweight adults, accounting for 3% in 1980. This figure saw a steady increase to around 5% in 2000.
