This table illustrates how grains, measured in million metric tons (MMT), were produced throughout the years from 2010 to 2015 along with future predictions up to the year 2030.
Overall, almost all grains increased gradually over time, with barley having the highest amount of growth throughout the years. Maize appears to remain constant, while rice experienced a slight fluctuation.
Although barley was experiencing the highest growth rate, wheat remained the highest in all time periods. It started with 100 MMT in 2010 and ended with 105 MMT in 2015, with further predictions of 110 MMT in the year 2030. Barley on the other hand, started at 50 MMT in 2010 and ended with 70 MMT in 2015 and will possibly end with an estimate of 100 MMT in 2030.
Maize seems to be relatively constant throughout the time periods. It began at 34 MMT and increased by just half in 2015; it is estimated to end with 35 MMT in 2030. Lastly, rice is the only grain that experienced a decrease from 24.7 MMT in 2010 to 24.3 MMT in 2015, but future forecasts suggest that it will continue to increase slightly, ending with 25.5 MMT in 2030.
