The given chart demonstrates the percentage of women in Australian who gave birth to their first child in 1966, 1986 and 2006.
Overall, the sharply high and low percentages of women were noticed in 1966 and 1986 with different ages whereas in 2008 the situation was different.
In 1966, the highest percentage was occurred in 19-24 age group more than 80%. The second is 25-30 age group, nearly 35%. Under 13 group slightly dropped as and 53%. The older age groups sharply plummeted.
By 1986, the percentage of first-time mothers under 13 and 13-24 age group declined slightly, while the 25-30 age group reached the peak, 50%. The 30-35 age group got a noticeable uplift compared to 1966.
In 2006, the trend had shifted further with the majority of women giving birth to their first child in 20-24 age group, closely followed by 25-30 age group. The percentage of under 13 group slumped significantly, while the number of first-time mothers late 30’s and early 40’s increased.
