The presented piecharts illustrate the sales percentages of a bookseller in the years 1970, 1997, and 2012. The five demarcations are adult fiction, chidren’s fiction, biography, travel, and others.
In 1972, the distribution of the fractions was the most equal, as three categories had a share of 20% and with others category leading at 25%. In contrast, the chart was most skewed in 2012, with adult fiction alone comprising of 45%, and children’s fiction at 25%. Thus, fiction in total alone took up 70%.
Adult fiction took one fourth of the area in 1992, and with children’s fiction, they shared a total of 47%. The former increased it share by 5% compared to the previous year, and had an immense increment of 20% in the following year. In contrast, biography showed a decrease of 5% from 1972 to 1992, and then nearly halved in 2012.
The above juxtaposition can also be observed in children’s fiction and others. Only travel showed fluctuations in its share, after an increase in 3%, it fell by nearly thrice of that.
