The first line graph illustrates the proportion of electrical appliances owned in accommodations, as a percentage, in one country over 99 years, from 1920 to 2019. The second graph indicates how many hours per week households spent utilizing these appliances for doing chores.
Overall, although the refrigerator and the vacuum cleaner started with different percentages of use, they ended up with the same percentage in 2019. Furthermore, the hours spent using electronic machines for cleaning experienced a decrease over the years.
In terms of the percentage of machine usage, the use of vacuum cleaners increased steadily until 2000, then plateaued at 100%. However, the use of refrigerators rose dramatically from 1920 to 1980, from 0% to 100%, and remained stable from this time onward. In contrast, washing machine usage recorded fluctuating percentages and ended at approximately 75%.
Regarding the hours spent using these devices for house chores, the hours dropped significantly from 1920 to 1960, from 50 hours to 30 hours. Following these years, it decreased slightly to 10 hours.
