The charts illustrate the percentage of various reasons why students study in a particular university in the UK between 1987 and 2007.
Overall, the percentage of suitable degree courses was the dominant among others during the whole period, while opposite was true for good sports and social activities in 2007 and close to parental home in 1987. Additionally, quality of resources and quality of teaching experienced a slight change over the period.
In the beginning of the year, the proportion of suitable degree courses showed the highest rate with 35%. This was followed by the quality of resources and good sports and social activities having almost the same percentage with 21% and 19%, respectively. In terms of the quality of teaching and close to parental home, 15% students chose for the former, while other 10% students chose for the latter one.
In 2007, on the other hand, the percentage of suitable degree courses witnessed a slight increase by 2%, maintaining its dominance in the given period. There was more than a two fold rise in the percentage of close to parental home of 12%. Similarly, a marginal grow was seen in the quality of teaching’s percentage by 3%, while that of good sports and social activities experienced a dramatic decrease from 19% to 6% which is the most significant drop among others.
