Overall, there was an increase in three categories of phone services, witnessing a considerable changes in domestic telephone landlines. In addition, the data for local connections had the highest figures throughout the period examined despite slight decreases in the last three years.
The total duration of minutes in local fixed-line services started at 1.2 billion in 1995, after which it experienced a rise by 4 billion in the next 4 years before reaching its peak at about 1.7 billion in 2001. However, a sharp decline to just under 1.4 billion was seen in this figure in 2003, and recovering back to its initial figure in the last of the period examined.
6 billion minutes was recorded in the nationalwide and international landline networks in 1995, with a subsequent steady growth to 8 billion in 1999, and a final increase to around 10 billion. Similar changes can be seen in the figure for cellular subscriptions, which was only a minor in the year 1995, then rising gradually to just under 10 billion at the end of the period surveyed.
