The pie charts illustrate the proportion of five sources of energy production (coal, gas, nuclear, petrol and other sources) between 1995-2005
Overall, in both years coal and gas made up over half of total energy production, while other energy sources contributed the least. There was only a slight rise in production from gas and coal, whereas nuclear and other sources nearly doubled. Petrol was the only energy source to decline over the period.
The proportion of the category for other unspecified energy production almost doubled from 4.90% to 9.10% between 1995 and 2005. The figure for nuclear production rose considerably from 6.40% in 1995 to 10.10% in 2005.
The proportion of energy produced from coal and gas did not exhibit considerable shifts, with the former increasing from 29% to 30%. The figure for petrol, on the other hand, witnessed a 10-percentage-point drop from 29.27% to 19.55% over the given years.
