The bar chart illustrates yearly averge expenditure on clothers per individual in the US in 1985, 1995 and 2005.
Overall, there can be seen a general upward trend, because amount of money spent on clothes increase over the years, with the highest values that were recorded in 2005.
First, in the chart it can be noticed that children spent less money than adults. In all years the lowest expenditures were made by boys; however, comparing to boys, whose values were stable throughout the period, girls’ purchases on clothes had risen untill 2005. Nevertheless, both boys’ and girls’ values did not rise over 200$.
Next, men’s purchases in 1985 went up from 300$ to around 450$ in 1995, while in the next 10 years this value dropped to 400$. On the other hand, womnen’s expenditure annual grew. It can be seen that in 1985 and 1995 purchases were approximately the same and did not exceed over around 500$ and went up more than 600$ in 2005.
