The line graph illustrated the amount of waste disposed by three different methods in a European country from the year 2005 to 2008.
In overall, Landfill was the method that disposed the highest amount of waste until the final year, while burning method remained the lowest portion. ‘Dumping in the sea’ showed a gradual increasing and surpassed Landfill by 2008.
Around 2000 million tonnes of waste were processed by Landfill methology in 2005, this figure slightly decreased to 1600 million tonnes in 2006 and continue to drop to only 1200 million tonnes by 2008. Amount of waste disposed by Burning method fluctuated around 800 and 900 million tonnes with a peak of 1200 million tonnes in 2006.
In contrast, waste amount disposted by ‘Dumping in the sea’ method presented an increasing trend over the years. With only around 1200 million tonnes processed by this method in 2005, far more behind that of Landifll in the same year. The number increased gradually and surpassed that of Landfill by 2008 with 1600 millions tonnes.
