The line graph shows the percentage of people from four different age groups who attended the gym at least once a month between 1990 and 2010.
Overall, the proportion of gym-goers increased significantly across all age groups during the period. From 1998 onwards, the 18–24 age group had the highest participation rate, while those aged 45 and over remained the least active throughout.
In 1990, about 10% of people aged 18–24 went to the gym. This figure increased significantly to 40% in 2002 and then rose again to nearly 60% by 2010. Similarly, the 25–34 group started at approximately 18%, increased significantly to around 35% in 2002, and then increased slightly to 50% by 2010.
The 35–44 group experienced a gradual increase, starting at about 5% in 1990, rising slightly to 20% in 2002, before increasing significantly to 40% in 2010. In contrast, the 45 and over group began at just under 5%, increased slightly and remained below 10% until 2002, then increased slightly to reach 20% by 2010.
