Overall, it is clear that girls tend to be more active than boys in swimming, netball and also no sports, while football and basketball were the most interesting activities for males. In addition, basketball was seen as having slight differences in the number of participants for both genders.
In 2010, football was the most popular selection of boys compared to that of girls, with 20% and 4% respectively. The next two popular activity for males was basketball, which is enjoyed by around 8% of the boys and 6% of the girls surveyed.
Regarding to netball, it was the most common sport activity for girls, at 18%. Turning to swimming, Australian girls were more attracted to swimming than boys, with a gap of 2%/ Similarly, boys were not as many as girls in choosing no sports, with the corresponding figures being 3% and 5%.
