Overall, the USA accounted for by far the most aid, while Sweden recorded the lowest figures in both years. Notably, aid levels generally reached for all countries in 2010.
To begin with, in 2010, financial assistance from the USA ranked the highest, at around $25 billion, whereas the figures for 2008 was considerably lower than that of 2009. In contrast, aid provided by the Netherlands was as high as Sweden, at $6 billion in 2008. The Netherlands decreased gradually from $9 to $8 billion in 2009. Subsequently, the Sweden stood at the lowest rate in 2009, which was much higher than that of 2010, at $8 and $5, respectively.
In 2008, financial assistance from the UK was slightly lower than Germany and Japan, at $9 and $11, respectively. However, in 2009, aid provided by Germany and Japan were a bit lower than the UK, at $13 compared to $10. In 2010, the UK and Germany were nearly as high as Japan, at approximately $13 and $11.
