The bar graph illustrates the amount of leisure time men and women with different employment statuses had in a typical week in 1998-99.
Overall, males generally had more leisure time compared to females. Retired and unemployed individuals had the most leisure hours, followed by housewives, while full-time employed individuals had the least leisure time.
Among full-time employed individuals, men had an average of 45 hours of leisure time per week, slightly more than women who had 38 hours. Part-time employed men data is not available, while part-time employed women enjoyed 40 hours of leisure per week. Unemployed and retired individuals, both men and women, had the longest leisure hours, ranging from 78 to 82 hours per week, with men having slightly more leisure time than women.
Housewives spent around 50 hours on leisure activities, more than full-time employed women but less than unemployed and retired women. The disparities in leisure time were most pronounced between full-time employed individuals and those who were unemployed or retired.
