Overall, the average salary in 2010 was higher in almost all these sectors, with the exception of tourism, where a reversal pattern can be observed. Moreover, financial services and telecommunications sectors earned considerably higher amount of salary compared to other areas.
At the beginning of the period, in 2000, the sectors with the highest income were financial services and telecommunications, with financial services earning around 115 thousand dollars and telecommunications earning around 65 thousand dollars. The administration and transport sectors had similar trends, with salaries around 45 thousand dollars. Meanwhile, tourism earned 20 thousand dollars as the job with the lowest income.
In contrast, almost all sectors showed a slight increase in 2010, apart from tourism. Financial services still remained in the highest position with salaries reaching about 130 thousand dollars . Transport, shops and administration sectors had higher earnings compared to 2000, with approximately 50 thousand dollars. However, tourism was the only job that showed a decrease. Additionally, there was a noticeable rise in the average salary for all sections, standing at 44 thousand dollars in 2000, then reaching 50 thousand dollars in 2010.
