Overall, it is clear that female students outnumbered males in most subjects. In addition, communication and media studies was the most popular subject among women, while art and design attracted more male students than females.
In terms of linguistics and English language and literature, the number of female students was significantly higher than that of males. Approximately 250 women studied linguistics compared to around 200 men. A similar pattern can be observed in English language and literature, where about 250 female students were enrolled, whereas the number of males was slightly lower at roughly 230.
Philosophy and history and archaeology also showed notable differences between genders. In philosophy, there were around 150 female students compared to only about 50 males. Likewise, history and archaeology had roughly 120 women, while the number of men was closer to 80.
By contrast, art and design was the only subject in which male students slightly outnumbered females, with about 180 men compared to approximately 160 women. Finally, communication and media studies was the most popular field among female students, reaching nearly 280, while the number of male students was around 220.
