The chart provides the data on the number of males and females in higher education in the UK between 19970 and 1971, 1980 and 1981, 1990 and 1991 depending on the format of studies.
Overall, full-time education was more spread than part-time one. What is more, the total number of women and men is pretty the same.
The number of women who attended full-time classes slightly increased from approximately 700 in 1970-71 to 1100 in 1990-91. We can see the same situation in part-time education with less than 50 in 1970-71 and barely 200 in 1990-91. As for males, the started at the point of 1000 for full-time and scarcely 100 for part-time, respectively. However, the number of part-time students started to increase, whereas full-time education dropped to the point of approximately 800 in 1980-81. After that, it raised a little bit to 900 in 1990-91.
Surprisingly, the number of full-time female students was much more compared to the number of full-time male students in 1990-91 with 1100 and 900, respectively.
