Overall, the number of people working as salespersons was the highest in both years, while farming had the lowest employment figure. In addition, the number of people working in nursing stayed nearly the same.
In 2001, just under 160,000 people were employed in sales, making it the most common occupation. The figure increased to about 170,000 people in 2008. In contrast, only about 62,000 people worked in accounting, and this figure fell slightly to just under 60,000 in 2008. The number of people working in computing increased from around 60,000 in 2001 to about 80,000 in 2008.
Regarding nursing, about 58,000 people worked in nursing in 2001. However in 2008, statistics rose to 60,000. In the farming sector, about 30,000 and just under 19,000 people were employed in 2001 and 2008 respectively.
