Overall, it is clear that the number of male scholars studying science was significantly higher than that of females. However, it is also important to mention, that veterinary medicine was more popular among women compared to men.
In 2009, the number of male students who studied biology was the highest and stood at 240. 220 men studied physics, and 200 were medicine students. The number of people studying astronomy and geology accounted for 200, respectively. Veterinary medicine experienced the lowest number of male students, standing at only 90.
The number of female students was also the highest in biology (200). Medicine was the second biggest female group, with 170. There were around 120 female students in veterinary medicine, which was slightly more than the number of male students in this category. Geology, astronomy and physics were the least popular among women in 2009, standing at 70, 60 and 40, respectively.
