The line graph illustrates the proportion of Australians born in various locations in the world between 1976 and 2011. Overall, the figure for Asia, total, and other places experienced varying degrees of increase, while the reverse was true for the UK. It is also clear that figure for Asia exhibited the most dramatic increase.
Focusing on increases first, the proportion of Australians born in Asia initially stood at about 3%, a figure that then witnessed gradual yet marked rise to 15% in 2011, representing a fivefold increase. Starting at roughly 29% and 11%, respectively, the figure for both total and other places experienced a slight dip in 1986, with respective figures of 23% and 8%. Both figures continiued to grow until the end of the period, with total reaching to 32% in 2011, and the other places reaching their peak at 14% in 2006, followed by a minor drop to 13% in 2011.
As for decreases, despite staying at a chart high of 14% in 1976, the figure for the UK declined to a mere 5% in the end of the period.
