The bar chart illustrates how much fuel produced from renewable energy was used for transportation in six European Union countries in 2009 and 2010.
Overall, the area used the most amount of fuel in both years was Slovakia, while Greece used the least. It is important to note that most countries used more fuel in 2010 and the average use was higher in that year.
Looking first at the year 2009, Slovakia used the greatest amount of fuel, around 9.3%, followed distantly by Austria and France, at 6.5% and 6.1%, respectively. While around 5% of fuel was used by Poland. The figure for Spain was around 3.5%, while that for Greece was only a third of that, at just 1.1%. The average fuel usage across all countries in this year was 4.1%.
One year later, Slovakia remained the country with the highest fuel consumption, at almost 8%. The proportions for Poland and France were the second highest, at 6%. The figures for Austria and Spain were slightly lower, at around 5% and much lower still for Greece, at 2%. The average use of fuel in 2010 was 0.8% higher than the previous year, at 4.9%.
