The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of fuel that is made from environmentally friendly resources and the comparison with the average rate in the transport industry across six different EU nations from 2009 to 2010.
Overall, Slovakia dominated the trend of consuming this kind of energy in both years, while Greece showed just a few percentage points. Additionally, almost all countries witnessed an above-average range of fuel usage, except for Spain and Greece, whose range was significantly below the average rate.
The percentage of renewable power in Slovakia started at around 9.5% in 2009, but then the figure plummeted, standing just below 8% in 2010. Despite having the most substantial decrease, the country still maintained its leading position throughout the period. This is followed by Austria, whose data was the second highest in 2009, at 6.5%. Nevertheless, the proportion of renewable fuel in the region reduced steeply by 1.5%. In contrast, the statistics of France reflected the most stable pattern, staying at 6% in both years.
As for the remaining nations, despite beginning at a low rate in 2009, just around 5%, Poland witnessed a significant rise by the following year, reaching 6%, surpassing other countries to become the second highest. However, both Spain and Greece were under EU average levels of fuel consumption. In detail, Spain depicted a considerably low percentage of consumption of renewable energy, but rose slightly over time, from 3.5% (2009) to nearly 5% (2010), reaching the same rate as the average of this year. Similarly, there was also an increase in Greece patterns by 1%, despite having the lowest point over time.
